TELL ANOTHER STORY – 2024

Our history, our past, is made up of places, encounters, people, and events that we often tend to recount, to ourselves and others, in the same way. Our stories shape us, but they do not define our identity. In psychotherapy, we reach a point where we need to let go of our past, especially the traumatic events associated with it, to rewrite a new story and thus a new present where past events are not erased, but our relationship with them has changed.

In the Tell Another Story project, I decided to apply the same methodology to photography as psychoanalytic work. From all the images in my archives, created over the course of many years, I choose a few to give new life to, juxtaposing them according to my current feelings, thus narrating them in a new way.

There are no titles, they are open images, just as I recreate my story, each of these images can make a personal story, because reality only exists if “looked at” (and therefore interpreted) by someone.

La nostra storia, il nostro passato è fatto di luoghi, incontri, persone, eventi che spesso tendiamo a raccontare, a noi stessi e agli altri, sempre nello stesso modo. Le nostre storie ci danno una forma, ma non definiscono la nostra identità. In un percorso di psicoterapia si arriva ad un momento in cui è necessario lasciar andare il proprio passato, ed in particolar modo gli eventi traumatici ad esso legato, per riscrivere una nuova storia e quindi un nuovo presente dove gli eventi passato non si cancellano, ma è cambiata la nostra relazione con essi.

Nel progetto Tell another story ho deciso di applicare alla fotografia la stessa metodologia del lavoro psicanalitico. Tra tutte le immagini presenti nei miei archivi, realizzate nel corso di tanti anni passati, ne scelgo alcune a cui dare una nuova vita, accostandole secondo il mio sentire di oggi, raccontandole quindi in modo nuovo.

Non esistono titoli, sono immagini aperte, come io mi ricreo la mia storia, ognuno di queste immagini può farne un personale racconto, perchè la realtà esiste solo se “guardata” (e quindi interpretata) da qualcuno.
